Brief History of Zham Gyaltsen Marpo aka thrulzhik lama Gyaltsen Marpa Rinpoche.

Thrulzhik Lama Gyaltsen  Marpa (khrul zhig bla ma rgyal mtshan dmar pa) aka Kunzang Pema Dechen Tsal, commonly known as Zham Gyaltsen Marpo Rinpoche (rgyal mtshan dmar po rin po che) was born in 1857 at Eastern Bhutan.  He work as local farmer until age of eighteen and at the age of 18 he entered at Karpo Chöling Monastery (dkar po chos gling dgon), where he received his basic education and learnings. Latter in 1892, age thirty-five he went to Kham, Eastern Tibet where he met with his root master Drubwang Togden Shakya Shri (grub dbang rtogs ldan shakya shri, 1853-1919) and received complete teaching of Dzogpachenpo - the great perfection and also studied the Six Yogas of Naropa (nA ro chos drug) and Mahamudra (phyag rgya chen po).

He returned to Bhutan after his root master was passed away and established a small retreat place in Zham, Eastern Bhutan (current Zham Goenpa is located). He was passaway at age of 93 in 1950 with numerous auspicious signs.  Latter Lopön Sönam Zangpo (slob dpon bsod nams bzang po, 1888-1982) one of the main disciple of Shakya Shri has recognized the tulku (sprul sku) of Trulzhik Lama Gyaltsen Marpa (Gyaltsen trulku).

Brief history of Tsampa Tsheten aka Khyenrab Gyamtsho - The Great Dzogchen meditator.

Tsampa Tsheten also known as Khyenrab Gyamtsho is born in 1955 from father Thinley (nephew of Drubwang Yeshe Dorje aka Yangma Meme Lama, 1893-1983) and mother Domo/Dorjimo in khomo valley of Eastern Bhutan. He started receiving spiritual teachings at age of 20 from Drubwang Yeshe Dorji commonly known as Yangma meme Lama at Yangma Retroe Samten Cholling Goenpa.

He had received complete empowerments and instruction in regards to Dzogchen Longchen Nyingthig starting from preliminary practice to Yeshe Lama. His practice under Yangma meme Lama starts from Ngyondro Zhi, Lami Naldjor, Tsa sum, Semtri Ngothroe, zhiney Lhagthog, tregchoe, Nyingtam Sergi Thigpa and Tri Yeshi Lama (starting from Khordey Rigzhi, Saboen Sekthab, Dorje Dugthang, Hung Jang, Sem ki Jung ney Drogsum, Nalpheb, zhi lam drey sum, Thoe gyal, naldjor choedpa drug, Rigpai Tselwang, bardo and Thaten). He had also received many teachings such as traditional medicine, Zayig, Par, longchen Phowa, Longchen Tsewang, Kunzang Lamai Zhelung, Dechen zhingkoe and many more. Latter he came back to village after receiving every teachings from meme lama and remained at strict retreat for more than 20 years at samling Goenpa and Kiphu Goenpa. Beside Yangma meme Lama he was also scholar of Lama Serpo aka Rigzin Pelden, Gonpa Lopen Tshewang Tobgay Samdrup Truelku and Fourth Dodrupchen Thubten Thinley Palzangpo.

He received every Dzogchen Longchen Nyingthig Teaching in regards to Togden Shakya Sheri and Tsalung from Lopen Tshewang Tobgay, one of the main deciple of Truelzhig Lama Gyeltse marpa /zham Gyeltsen marpo. Similarly he also received complete Dzogchen teaching in regards to Togden Sakya Sheri stating from semtri, Nyenjue Phowa and Tsalung Truelkhor until Rigpai Tselwang from Samdrup Trulku at Boeganang, Thimphu.

Latter he met with Lama Serpo Rigdzin pelden at Lobesa and had lots of conversation with Rinpoche and Lama Serpo said, double Thumbs up for his attainment. Hence he received Semtri Jinlab, choe drol, Kusum Ngotroe and Rigpai Tselwang from Lama Serpo. Moreover, he had also received many empowerments from 4th Dodrup Rinpoche Thubten Thinley Palzangpo including Rinchen Terzoe in 1987 and received Dzogpachenpo empowerment in 2013. Furthermore, Tsampa Tsheten has also received many empowerments and instruction from many Great masters such as Palnor Rinpochey, Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpochey, Kanjur Rinpochey, Lama Longdrol, Lama Chimi and so on.

Besides being Dzogchen Master, Tsampa Tsheten aka Drubwang Khyenrab Gyamtsho was also specialized in traditional medicines and treated countless patients. A German Doctor came to his place for three times, first she came to do research on traditional medicine and later she visited again in 2009 and 2010 to learn about traditional medicine.

Brief History of Lama Serpo / Drubwang Rigdzin Palden བླ་མ་སེར་པོ་སྒྲུབ་དབང་རིག་འཛིན་དཔལ་ལྡན།།

Drubwang Rigdzin Palden (sgrub dbang rig ‘dzin dpal ldan) commonly known as Lama Serpo (bla ma ser po) was born in 1916 from father Sonam Dorji and mother Thuji Zangmo at Khawchung village under Lhuntse Dzongkhag.  Lama Serpo was turned his complexion into yellowish due to jaundice at young age and mother named him as Serpo meaning yellow.

Lama Serpo became monk at Lhuntse Rabdey and later went to Tibet to receive complete teachings from renowned masters. After reaching at Tibet, he met with many masters such as Drubwang Sonam Zangpo, Jetsunma Chonying Zangmo a renowned Dzogchen Master at Shuksep monastery, Second Adzom Drukpa and finally his root teacher Adzom Gyalse Gyueme Dorje. After struggling a lot at Tibet, he has become a renowned Dzogchen practitioner (rdzogs chen pa) and received the complete Dzogchen transmissions including the Dzogchen Longchen Nyingthig (rdzogs chen klong chen snying thig) and Chetsün Nyingthig (lce btsun snying thig) from his root master Adzom Gyalse Gyurme Dorje (a 'dzom rgyal sras 'gyur med rdo rje) and Mahamudra (phyag rgya chen po) and the Six Yogas of Naropa (na ro chos drug) from Drubwang Sonam Zangpo (grub dbang bsod nams bzang po).

He spent many years in retreat and later started giving Dzogchen instructions at Zhabjetang in Bumthang and later settled at Lobesa where many students gathered to receive teachings and instructions. Rinpoche practiced Longchen Nyingthig and choetsuen Nyingthig where his teaching includes preliminary practice and gradually with main instruction of Great Perfection in accordance with norm of Azom Drukpa Linage such as semtri, Yeshi Lama, Tsalung Truel khor including Tumo and three types of Phowa (consciousness transfer). Many trulkus, Khenpos, Gomchens, Lamas and some popular beings were visited Lama Serpo to receive unique teaching called Thiglay Nyernga/Sergithurma which is received by Adzom Drukpa in state of trance (Yoedsel) from Jigme Lingpa which was passed down to Lama Serpo.

Lama Serpo passed away peacefully in his residence on the 3rd day of the 11th Lunnar month of female Iron Rabbit year, 2011 and remained in Thukdam until the 15th day. Moreover the body size was sunk to one foot size and while kudung was let to zangdok pelri Temple after 100 days the earth shook and beautiful rainbows appeared with rain of Flower.

37th death anniversary of Dzogchen Master Drupwang Yeshe Dorje aka Yangma meme Lama.

ཧྲཱི༑ རབ་འབྱམས་རྒྱལ་བའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་གཅིག་བསྡུས་གཟུགས། མཚོ་འཁྲུངས་རྒྱལ་བའི་ཐུགས་རྗེ་རྨད་འབྱུང་མཐུས། མཉམས་མེད་བླ་མ་ཡེ༵་ཤེས༵་རྡོ༵་རྗེ༵་ལ། གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ་མཆོག་ཐུན་དངོས་གྲུབ་སྩོལ།

Today is 37th death anniversary of Dzogchen Master Drupwang Yeshe Dorje aka Yangma meme Lama. So I will share brief summary of his biography as follows. 

Drubwang Kunzang Gyurme (grub dbang kun bzang ‘gyur med) aka Drubwang Yeshe Dorje, (grub dbang ye shes rdo rje) colloquially known as Yangma Meme Lama (yangs ma me me bla ma) (1893-1983) was born in the Khoma valley, Lhuntse district, Eastern Bhutan in the late 19th century. When he was young he served as calculator and astrologer or Tsidrung (rtsis drung) for Azhi Tshendru Lhamo aka Azhi Lemo, the queen of the First King of Bhutan Gongsar Ugyen Wangchug, who later sent him to Tibet in order to receive spiritual teachings and training.

Upon arriving in Eastern Tibet he travelled throughout Kham and Amdo valleys and met with numerous masters and received various teachings from great masters like Togden Sakya shiri, speech incarnation of Dza Peltrul Rinpoche and so on. After receiving numerous teachings he met with his root master Khenchen Kunzang Gyamtso (mkhan chen kun bzang rgya mtsho), where he received complete teaching of Dzogpa chenpo (the great perfection) Longchen nyingthig and yuthog nyingthig teaching. Khenchen Kunzang Gyamtso is one of the main disciple of Khamnyön Dharma Senge (khams smyon dharma seng ge, d.-1890) aka Ragang Chodpa. Withstanding various difficulties and obstacles he continuously remained with his master for several years receiving the entire empowerment, transmissions and instructions (dbang lung khrid gsum) according to the Dzogchen lineage of the First Dodrupchen Rinpoche Jikme Trinle Özer (‘jigs med phrin las ‘od zer) (1745-1821) and the Dzogchen Longchen Nyingthig (rdzogs chen klong chen snying thig) via Khamnyön Dharma Senge (khams smyon dharma seng ge, dd-1890).
After returning back to Bhutan he spent many years practicing in strict retreat at Singye Dzong, Phogteng, sangwa dhadru Sampalingdung and so on. Later he went to Yangma ri throd Samten Chöling Gönpa (yangs ma ri khrod bsam gten chos gling dgon pa), near Thimyul village, Lhuntse district, where he remained practicing and teaching for the rest of his life. Among his countless students the main disciples are the great Dzogchen practitioners Wamakhar Rinpoche Pema Singye, Khenrab Jamtsho aka Tsampa Tseten, Janchubling Dorje Lopen lama Norbu, Tsampa Boedpa, Tsampa Kelzang and Tharpaling Rinpoche Tshewang Dorji and so on. In 1983, at age ninety, Rinpoche passed away under numerous auspicious signs and left with nemourous relics for the benefit of sentient beings.

Choedrak is one of the four great cliff/rock of Bumthang valley blessed by Guru Rinpoche. It is located above Tharpaling monastery under Bumthang District. It was first blessed by Guru Rinpoche and latter in 1234, Gyalwa Loreypa - one of the disciple of Tsangpa Jarey built temple and resided in that cave. However the temple was ruined after his departure to Tibet and in 18th century Ngawang Thinley – one of the eminent monk from Sewla of Punakha has repaired fully.

The sacred site is considering as hidden retreat site of Guru Rinpoche and it contains Gyalwa Loreypa’s meditation cave, Tenpa Rinchen’s relic stupa, 108 Chukchizhel Temple, Dorji Yudonma’s Cave, Guru’s Throne & Holly water, Temple of Kaju master and many more.
